Yamaha extends its range of network audio by introducing the SB168-ES stage box

Adding to an already extensive range of network audio solutions and products for the installation and touring markets, PLASA 2008 saw Yamaha previewing the SB168-ES stage box. Taking the digital audio consoles M7CL and LS9 to a new level of functionality and versatility, the cost-effective SB168-ES is a scalable digital stage box solution which offers 16 channels of remote analogue mic/line inputs - each with its own high quality head amp - combined with eight line outputs, all at 48KHz.
As well as its compatibility with the M7CL and LS9, the SB168-ES mic/line inputs can be remotely controlled by PM5D, DM1000, DM2000 consoles and DME digital mix engines, while up to three SB168-ES units can be connected to offer a total of 48 inputs and 24 outputs, depending on the number of YGDAI card slots available in the chosen console. The inputs and outputs can be assigned to any of the 64 channels in an ES100 system.
Very straightforward to set up, the SB168-ES is highly noise resistant and ensures audio quality is maximised by keeping the length of microphone cables as short as possible.
“The tremendous success of the M7CL and LS9 has underscored that they are an extremely safe purchase for successful businesses,” says Nick Cook, European Marketing Director for Yamaha Commercial Audio. “And the introduction of the SB168-ES will enhance the flexibility of both consoles still further.”
With over 21,000 sold since being launched in 2005 and 2006, Yamaha's M7CL and LS9 digital consoles are proving a success story. Benefiting from Yamaha’s 21 years of experience in digital console design, the M7CL and LS9 have opened up new markets to the advantages of professional quality digital audio. “Having spent a great deal of time in detailed discussions with users and rental companies during the development phase, we knew these were good products when we launched them,” says Nick Cook, “But we didn’t predict what a huge success they would be and we’re very pleased to be able to mark that at PLASA this year.”
