Yamaha IMX644 rackmount digital mixer and IPA8200 eight channel power amplifier

Yamaha has taken its successful Installation Series of loudspeakers a stage further by introducing two complementary products, the IMX644 rackmount digital mixer and the IPA8200 eight channel power amplifier. Designed to dovetail seamlessly with all 26 models of Installation Series speaker, the introduction of the IMX644 and IPA8200 means that the Installation Series now offers a complete sound reinforcement system.
Designed for applications such as conference rooms, banquet halls, bars and restaurants, the IMX644 and IPA8200 continue the Installation Series philosophy of delivering excellent sound quality from unobtrusive, easy to install products, at an advantageous price point.
The IMX644 features six Euroblock mono inputs (each with individual +48V phantom power), four RCA stereo inputs and an additional optical digital input. Outputs comprise two pairs of stereo Euroblock connectors, plus two channels of mono output. RCA and optical digital output are also available for recording.
Although the IMX644’s appearance is uncluttered and it is very intuitive for inexperienced operators to use, it has many advanced features accessed from a computer running IMX644 manager software, connected to the mixer via a USB port. Features of the software include a feedback suppressor and automatic ducking on all mono inputs, with six band parametric EQ, digital delay and output balance on all outputs. Complete configurations can be saved to any one of 16 instantly-recallable scenes. GPI inputs and outputs are provided as well as a RS232-C remote connection, which allows remote control via third party systems such as AMX or Crestron.

The latest in the Yamaha amplifier line-up is the IPA8200, a highly efficient Class D amplifier that delivers eight channels of 200W each (4 ohms) in a lightweight but robust 2U body. Applying the same rigorous standards to the IPA8200 means that smaller-scale installations can enjoy superior reliability and sound quality, but with the efficiency of Class D amplification, which is about three times more efficient than conventional Class AB or Class H amplification. This means reduced power consumption, heat dissipation and space required for the units.
The IPA8200 features Euroblock inputs and barrier strip outputs, with an internal High Pass Filter which may be activated and selected between 20Hz and 55Hz. Pairs of channels may be driven in bridged or parallel modes and, to match different gain structures, the amplifier may be set at gain level of +26dB or +32dB, or may be used in constant sensitivity mode of +4dBu.
The IMX644 is expected to start shipping in early 2009, with the IPA8200 to follow in the spring.
Along with existing speaker line-up the new installation series will be showcased at Integrated Systems Europe 2009 (ISE) show in Amsterdam.
