QSC Basis 922azQSC Audio Products introduces their next generation network audio platform- QSControl.net and Basis 922az. QSControl.net encompasses the seamless integration of the company's signal transport, control, processing, and monitoring technologies.
QSControl.net melds QSC's power amplification and loudspeaker products into a unified system that enables the user to administer it all via a fully integrated graphical user interface. The new Basis 922az is the first in a series of hardware engines designed to operate over an Ethernet network under the company's QSControl.net platform.
The Basis 922az combines three distinct QSC technologies within a single hardware unit. Amplifier and loudspeaker control, monitoring and protection; configurable DSP, and CobraNet audio transport are seamlessly integrated into one powerful, single RU package.
Through QSControl.net, multiple Basis 922az units can be networked and controlled from a single software interface along with all of the amplifier/loudspeaker monitoring functions. In addition, multiple networked computers can be set up to control and monitor all of the Basis 922az units simultaneously.
The Basis 922az has 8 analog line level inputs and 8 QSC DataPort outputs (4 stereo channels), designed to connect to QSC DataPort-equipped amplifiers for amplifier/loudspeaker control and monitoring. The internal 24 x 24 DSP engine combines these inputs and outputs with CobraNet channels.
One very powerful feature of the Basis 922az is its True Power Limiting capability. This new technology measures the true power going into the driver and achieves the maximum performance possible without exceeding that speaker's safe operating range.
Users of most other configurable DSP systems are familiar with a variable "latency" inherent in the processing configuration. QSC's DSP engine has a short and fixed processing latency through the DSP subsystem. The delay is exactly 417 microseconds. When the A/D and D/A converters are figured in, the total "analog in" to "analog out" latency of a Basis 922az is a negligible 2.355 milliseconds.
