At ProLight+Sound Frankfurt 2003 K.M.E. announced their active bass models ASS 12 D, ASS 15 D, ASW 15 D, ASS 18 D, ASW 18 D to feature digital power amplifiers. With an efficiency of beyond 90% a substantial reduction in waste heat can be achieved cmpared to analogue amplifiers reducing bulky, heavy cooling devices and fans. The low heat rate of the power amp improves vital technical parameters, such as the nonlinear distortion factor and reliability.
Further improvements include additional 100 watts for the bass amplification and a redesigned frequency crossover (24 dB/octave) to achieve a defined and powerful bass-reproduction. The input stage for all ASS-models features three modes (Stereo SAT, Mono SAT, Split) which allows use of one of the two top part power amps for driving a separate monitor channel (200 watts in 8 Ohm) in Split-mode. Selected mode is clearly displayed by an LED signal. All models include a protective caster transportation board. Active bass models ASS 12 D, ASS 15 D, ASW 15 D, ASS 18 D, ASW 18 D with digital amp inside start shipping in May 2003. |
