United Musical Instruments U.S.A. has added molded sousaphone cases with wheels to its instrument accessory lineup. Steve Allen, UMI accessories product manager, said that the new cases will fit both C.G. Conn and King sousaphone models. The small nest case, Model 7760C/L, is intended for King 2350, C.G. Conn 36K and King 2370.The large nest sousaphone case, Model 7761C/L, is for the C.G. Conn 20K.
The cases feature black polystyrene case with aluminum valance, dust gasket in valance to keep water and dirt out of interior, durable rubber wheels with ball-bearings for smooth rolling, full-length piano hinge securing lid to bottom, butterfly anvil-style latches to close case tightly and remain secure, wide rubber feet for the bottom of the case, four case handles for easy case maneuverability, one spring-loaded handle for lifting and loading case into a vehicle, stair guards on the back of the case to protecting the hinge while rolling the case down stairs or over the curb, heavy foam padding in the case, and a large accessory box with a zippered pouch for neck, bits and mouthpieces.
"This is the final case in the low brass case design project," said Allen. "We have upgraded all of the cases for our low and marching brass instruments to make them offer musicians all of the protection and security they need for their instruments."
