In conjunction with the AES Convention in New York City, TC Electronic introduced Filtroid PowerCore exclusive plug-in. With its dual filters and extensive modulation capabilities, Filtroid brings the sound of analogue filter banks to the PowerCore platform.
Filtroid consists of two filters with low-, hi- and band-pass shapes with 12, 18 or 24 db slope characteristics. The filters can be used in series or parallel for the utmost creative control, and external side-chain input provision allows for modulation of the filter from another track.
The modulation capabilities are extensive, including independent LFOs per filter and the envelope follower. Tempo sync ensures that filter movements are always synchronized to the speed of the sequencer, and a distortion unit adds an additional edge to the sound, if desired.
With serial or parallel filter routing, many modulation options, side chain input, resonance with self-oscillation, envelope follower, distortion and out of phase modulation, PowerCore users have all the tools they need to make the most extreme filter effects.
"Utilizing only the processing power of PowerCore, the creative possibilities of Filtroid transform PowerCore into a serious sound design tool, while keeping your host CPU free to meet other creative demands," says product manager John Epperson.

The PowerCore Platform

PowerCore is the open platform DSP engine for professional signal processing for Mac and PC. Its serious processing power seamlessly integrates with any Audio Units- or VST compatible host application PowerCore includes ten TC plug-ins right out of the box. Optional plug-ins are available from TC and a growing number of respected 3rd-party developers such as Sony-Oxford, TC-Helicon, Waldorf and D-Sound. PowerCore is available as a PCI card or external FireWire unit.
