Famous DJs gathered on a video
Shure has gathered a group of legendary turntablists together for its new
video, Turntablism 101. A rare look into the music and minds of ten unique
DJs, the video offers insight into the history and philosophy of DJing
and the world of battling, as well as demonstrates the basics of building
a routine.
Featured DJs on Turntablism 101 include Mixmaster Mike of the Beastie
Boys and the former Invisibl Skratch Piklz and Master Roc Raida, Mista
Sinista, Rob Swift and Total Eclipse of the X-ecutioners; J-Rocc and Rhettmatic
of the Beat Junkies; P-Trix of the Immortal Fader Fyters; Roli Rho of Fifth
Platoon; and Big Wiz of the Steelworkers.
"Shure is proud to be a part of many of the amazing performances we
have seen over the years from the world's premier DJs," said Greg "Needlz"
Riggs, Phono Product Manager of Shure. "With Turntablism 101, we're
able to capture the live techniques of the best battle DJs and bring them
to aspiring turntablists across the country. We're thrilled to contribute
to the growth of the art in this way."
Intended for all skill levels, the video provides instructive segments
on scratching, beat juggling, body tricks, team routines and turntable
techniques as well as advice on equipment. The video is currently available
for music retailers worldwide.
This spring will mark the debut of the MCC specialized crush-proof,
water-proof, DJ-proof Shure Cartridge Carry Case that will securely hold
4 cartridges. Other new phono accessories include the Shure Record Bag
which has all the necessary spaces for a DJ to carry records, cartridges,
a mic, headphones, and more.
