Namm’s teen initiative Music Edge and Pro-Mark, the Houston-based maker of drumsticks, mallets and percussion accessories, will host The Music Edge Fastest Drummer event at the Frankfurt Musikmesse, Germany. The contest, which is becoming a staple of the Namm shows, will take place each day of the show at the Pro-Mark booth, Hall 3 B40, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. until show close. The winner of each day’s competition will receive 12 pairs of Pro-Mark drumsticks and other prizes.
“We’ve had a drumometer at Frankfurt for three or four years now and it never fails to draw a crowd and everyone has a great time,” said Pat Brown, director of sales and marketing for Pro-Mark. “This year, we decided it would be nice to make it a little bit more official. Namm's enthusiastic support will help draw even more people."
The Music Edge Fastest Drummer Program is set up to help drum retailers create new music makers in local markets, enhance interest in drumming and build store traffic through the presentation of two in-store contests—the Battle of the Hands and the Battle of the Feet. This highly charged interactive program is designed to attract kids and adults alike to retail stores for contests. When tested in stores, the program produced solid store traffic and increased visibility through good media coverage. Currently 42 Namm retail members participate in the Music Edge Fastest Drummer Program. |
