Lionstracs Mediastation X-76 based on Linux OS

At winter NAMM show 2004 Italian manufacturer Lionstracs showcased its Mediastation X-76 intelligent keyboard. The company will also be exhibiting at Musikmesse Frankfurt, Germany, hall 5.0, stand B26. Based on a Red Hat Linux operating system, the instrument offers a state of the art keyboard workstation and a computer running the acknowleged KDE graphical surface. It took the company 2 years of research and development to eventually unveil a workstation that is designed to be a versatile instrument for studio production, live performance, dj or karaoke. The hard disc based system includes; midi arranger and player, style arranger and player, digital audio workstation, sampling and video streaming and conferencing. The Mediastation X-76 offers 256 GM DSP polyphonic voices on two DSP processor plus 256 CPU voices and can be expanded with 2 additional DSP 128 Wavetables for up to 1024 voices. The Mediastaion features 11 custom designed daughter boards for audio, MIDI (with 14 independent MIDI-Out sockets), graphics processing and key LED functions. The 8.4" liquid TFT Touchscreen display has a resolution of 800X600 pixels with 16,000 colors. There are 2 joysticks for the keyboard and the realtime controls, a mixer with XLR master out as well as monitor/cue out.. The architecture uses a combination of hard- and software processing for midi, audio, style players, crossfade as well as realtime scratch/pitch functionality. Computer applications include CD and DVD recording, networking, USB modem, internet browser, email and other utilities available for Linux OS.
