Ravi to be the national clinician for Greg Bennett electric guitars

SMC (Samick Music Corp.), the world's largest guitar and piano manufacturer, announces the collaboration with nationally recognized writer, speaker and guitarist, Ravi, to be the national clinician for Greg Bennett electric guitars. This alliance will be officially introduced to the industry at the NAMM Convention 2005, Anaheim, CA. At the convention, Ravi will meet with dealers, conduct product demos, and showcase clinics on stage in the company's massive booth which will pave the way for ongoing clinics throughout the country in 2005.
"We approached Ravi because we wanted someone who knows guitars, plays guitars, and can intelligently and eloquently speak about guitars," says William Traylor, Vice President of Marketing for SMC. "The combination of his abilities as a professional performer, writer, and speaker make him uniquely qualified."
Greg Bennett, who designed the extensive line of guitars, agrees: "Ravi's obvious talent as a musician and skills as a communicator make him perfectly suited to achieving Samick's marketing goals. More importantly to me, however, is Ravi's deep empathy with traditional music dealers and the challenges they face. Samick, as well as the guitar industry, is fortunate to have Ravi encouraging young players to 'live the dream' with integrity."
Ravi, an artist whose credits span from the dives of Manhattan to the White House, tours the country performing original music and, as a consultant, lecturing on crucial issues facing the music industry. He has appeared on Letterman, Leno, Saturday Night Live, Today Show, Good Morning America, and has performed in the most prestigious venues including Madison Square Garden, Louisiana Superdome, and President Clinton's White House Christmas Party.
Mercury Records/PolyGram hired him in 1997 to play guitar with three-time Grammy nominee Hanson (the top selling band in the world that year). Simon & Schuster published his tour journal/autobiography. Berklee College of Music, Pepperdine University, and others including most music business conferences host his lectures.
"I pride myself in playing some of the finest instruments in the marketplace, and Greg Bennett guitars have not only impressed me, but won me over in recognizing that fine quality instruments are available at very affordable prices," says Ravi. "Greg Bennett Guitars play and sound better than many instruments costing two or three times as much, and are also more visually inspiring. These are all important considerations in my accepting this position, as I like to see players using instruments that truly inspire and facilitate musical growth."
Ravi's clinics are multidimensional, designed to uncover the many attributes of each guitar through practical application in making music. The clinics showcase the potential of layering guitar tones by incorporating home recording tools and techniques. This format also explores a broader scope of products and opportunities available in creating music, well beyond the traditional guitar clinic. Ravi's presentations are highly educational, entertaining, and inspiring.
At NAMM, in addition to appearing at the SMC booth on Friday and Saturday, Ravi will perform at the Sennheiser booth on Thursday at 3pm, and will lecture on "Manufacturing and Selling Dreams" at the NAMM University booth on Sunday at noon.
