John McLaughlin: "You can really play your guitar with Triple Play"

World-renowned guitarist and composer John McLaughlin has been recording and performing with test versions of the Triple Play Wireless guitar controller for two years, providing Fishman with valuable insight throughout the development process. “After experimenting with various MIDI guitar interfaces for the past 27 years, there is finally something that truly works!” McLaughlin said. “What I mean by this is that you can really play your guitar with Triple Play and it feels musical, without any bugs or snags.”
McLaughlin had deep knowledge and experience with previous iterations of MIDI guitar, so Fishman knew he’d be critical and have high expectations of the product’s performance. His fast, articulate playing style really put TriplePlay to the test – pushing the limits of speed and accuracy in the hands of a true musical virtuoso.
“At the end of the day, if the product doesn’t respond and perform in a musical way, then we didn’t do our job,” adds Larry Fishman. “This is about using your guitar to be creative with a new and limitless palette of sounds and tools. If you have to fight with it, then it’s not going to be fun or enjoyable to use.”
