DiGiCo D1 Live - digital live sound console

DiGiCo D1 LiveLaunched in Europe at PLASA 2004, DiGiCo's new digital mixing console, the DiGiCo D1 Live, saw its US launch at LDI 2004 and was also showcased at 117th AES. The DiGiCo D1 Live has all the features of the D5 Live, and provides the audio solutions synonymous with DiGiCo/Soundtracs brands, but in a smaller, lighter package.
A new MADI card gives a dramatic price reduction by providing a fully digital link from stage to FOH for up to 100m of coax cable, where previously 50m was the maximum run, and so dispensing with the need for expensive optical fibre.
The console is supplied in four main feature configurations creating a direct replacement for an analogue console. DiGiCo/Soundtracs managing director, Bob Doyle, explains: "Our R&D department is always quick to react to the demands of the marketplace, as has been proven time and again with both the DiGiCo and Soundtracs product ranges. The D1 is our latest development and is aimed to fit into a specific sector of the market that has, as yet, not fully benefited from the digital revolution that has been very apparent in the high end live sound arena."
The D1 Live features 25 layered fader work surface, grouped in blocks of eight user definable banks per section, with meter-bridge and 40 buss DSP engine. It is configurable for stereo, LCR(S) and 5.1 operations. 64 to 160 input processing channels are configurable mono or stereo as well as 8 macro buttons are fully user configurable. Input channels provide 4 band parametric input E/Q with hi-lo pass filters and side chain filtering, gates and compressors. Six independent F/X processors are included.
Flexibility is achieved with up to 12 28 band insertable graphic equalizers, up to 28 auxiliaries (configurable mono or stereo), a user configurable 38 x 8 matrix, 16 CG/VCA style control/mute groups, 16 insertable processing channels (IPCs) each with six bands of fully switchable parametric equalizers with compressor and delay up to 510ms (D1 48DP and D1 48DR only).
