D.A.S. unveils powered speaker SML-12A

At winter Namm show 2006, D.A.S. Audio launched the powered speaker SML-12A, a biamplified two-way vented system designed to be used as a stage monitor. The standard pole mount and M-10 flying points add versatility to the system for applications such as portable PA.
The system incorporates a 500 W Class D amplifier for the low frequency section and a 100 W Class A/B amplifier for the high frequency driver. The low frequency section utilizes a high efficiency 12" low frequency speaker with a 3" voice coil and neodymium magnet structure. The T.A.F. cooling scheme provides high power handling and low power compression. The high frequency section makes use of a neodymium magnet compression driver with 1.5" exit and 3" titanium diaphragm. The compression driver is coupled to a narrow dispersion horn.
The multi-angle enclosure is made of Wisa Birch plywood and finished with a durable black paint. The loudspeaker components are protected by a steel grille covered by a fabric filter. The fabric provides protection from dust and dirt, and is both acoustically transparent and flame retardant. The system is also available in a 15" powered version named the SML-15A.
Other shows with D.A.S. participating and also showing other recent products such as the Aero-38A powered line array systems are SIEL (Paris, France), ENTECH (Sidney, Australia), SIB (Rimini, Italia), NSCA (Las Vegas, USA), and Musikmesse /prolight+sound (Frankfurt, Germany). For details about dates of all shows see the Trade Show Agenda.
