GBOB final with 18 bands in London, December 9, 2012

Started in 2003 to support new talent regardless of music genre, religion, origin or age, the annual Global Battle of the Bands (GBOB) approaches its 2012 final to be held in London on December 9, 2012. It will feature bands from Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, and Europe. The bands which have qualified by winning national competetions throughout the year will gather in the UK to perform their own compositions competing in World Final of the 2012 Global Battle of the Band (GBOB).
Finalists 2012 are from Australia, Bahamas, Belgium, Cyprus, England, Finland, Greece, Iceland, India, Ireland, Jamaica, Lebanon, Moldova, Norway, Philippines, Romania, Scotland, and Ukraine. Audiences can expect a high quality, diverse set list with a wide range of music genres such as Rock, Reggae, R'n’B, Pop, Metal, and Dance.

Eighteen bands are ready to battle it out on stage for the title and a prize worth 100,000 USD comprising of cash, a recording opportunity, and an overseas tour -- all this designed to kick-start the winning band’s music career on a worldwide scale. “We are coming to take first place, we love competition, we want it all. We look forward to making friends with other bands, taking the trophy and grand prize back to the Bahamas”, mentioned Swett Swenson, lead vocalist of Bahamian band Stinkin’ Wayz.
“Representing a country in a World Final, and for a subject you are passionate about, is an amazing feeling. For us, it is something you can hold onto for a lifetime,” commented Metasoma band, England’s entry to the competition.
On stage at the Scala. each band will be performing two songs. “This is where bands perform as if their lives depend on it," the GBOB Jamaica National Director, Seretse Small, commented.
As usual, this year’s panel judges will be a group of internationally acclaimed music industry professionals whose names will only be revealed during the day of the World Final itself. Former judges included Steve Lillywhite (Producer, U2) and Glen Matlock (Bassist, Sex Pistols).
Each band is rallying support from different international communities based in the UK. The organizers are reporting that ticket sales represent a very diverse crowd to show up at the World Final. A TV Documentary of this concert will be produced and released in various countries.
