Director Robert Groslot conducts orchestra and choirAlessandro SafinaIn 2000 the organizers of the 11th edition of the world famous event "Night of the Proms" hope to cross the magic border of 100.000 visitors at the Ahoy in Rotterdam. Eleven shows are scheduled in November in Rotterdam, another 15 take place in Belgium, along with nine shows in Germany and one in swiss Zürich.
The line up is more interesting than ever. Performing with the Il Novecento symphony orchestra, directed by Robert Groslot,  and the Fine Fleur Choir will be the British reggae superstars of UB 40, former Pretenders leader and singer Chrissie Hynde, rapper Coolio and the Italian tenor Alessandro Safina. For Belgium and the Netherlands the  local band Abel will perform.
The program will feature classical favorites from Dvorak, Rossini, Mozart, Tchaikovski, Richard Strauss, Johann Strauss, Beethoven, Mozart and more. Worldhits like "Red, red wine", "I got you babe", " Can't help falling in love", "Gangsta's paradise", "C U when U get there", "Brass in pocket" or "Don't get me wrong", "What is love" will be highlights performed by orchestra , the electric band with a.o. guitarist Laurie Wisefield, choir and of course the rockstars.
