At winter NAMM show 2004 in Anaheim, California, Toca introduces Sheila E. Custom Pro Congas, Bongos, and Timbales - instruments that conform to famed artist Sheila E.'s exacting requirements sonically and aesthetically.
Standing 30" tall, the Sheila E. Custom Pro 11" Quinto (4711SEC), 11 ¾" Conga (4711-3/4SEC), and 12 ½" Tumba (4712-1/2SEC) reveal a thick girthed Afro-Cuban shell for optimum power and presence. Finished in white high gloss lacquer, the drums feature 2 strips, at the middle and top, of glittering broken glass covering. The drums are fitted with top-grade matched bison heads, traditional style rims and extended height collars. Attached to rugged Asian Oak shells is highly polished chrome-plated hardware.
To match the congas in timbre and appearance, Toca introduces Sheila Custom Pro Bongos (4700SEC) in 7" and 8 ½" diameters, topped with matched bison heads. The Asian Oak hardwood shells are finished in the same white gloss lacquer and feature a crushed glass strip inlay on the middle portion of each drum. As with the congas, the bongos feature a traditional rim and extended collar.
Imagine the cascara possibilities afforded by the Sheila Custom Pro Timbales (T216-SE). Available in 14" and 15" chrome-plated shells, the drums feature broken glass strips top and bottom, which provide unique visuals and added heft for side-shell sticking. Each timbale is fitted with Remo Smooth White Ambassador drumheads. The timbales are mounted on a heavy duty, double-braced Gibraltar stand. In an artsy yet functional touch, timbales come with a Toca Contemporary Bongo Bell, finished in a complementary white sheen. It's attached to a non-slip cowbell mount that can hold up to three items.
