Paiste announces the expansion of its Traditionals series by a new model, the 22" Extra Light Ride. In addition, the Extra Thin and the Thin Crash models are now available in a 20" size.
These introductions are a response to feedback from Jazz drummers, who asked for bigger, thinner and consequently darker cymbals. Such cymbals were common in Jazz during the 1950s and 1960s, where they were played using light sticks with small tips. The resulting sound feeling is still required in today s Jazz playing. The large crashes, when used with such sticks, are also useable as crash-rides or for light ride playing.
Traditionals are the result of Paiste s research project into the re-creation of legendary cymbal sound from the Blues, Swing, Big Band, Cool Jazz and Hard Bop era of the 1930s to the 1960s. They are the only cymbal series to be researched and newly developed to achieve authentic historical sound.
