Ludwig introduces Keystone Series drums with thin 5-ply shells

Ludwig Keystone Drum Series At Musikmesse Frankfurt 2010, Germany, Ludwig Introduced the Keystone Series drums which is a creation from Ludwig USA's Monroe facility. The 3-ply Maple core used in Ludwig's Classic Maple drums is augmented with 1/16" inner and outer ply of American Red Oak to create a more focused tonality. This 5-ply combination creates a thin, dense shell that speaks loudly with a quick, even decay. To draw further resonance from this unique hybrid, the dual 45-degree bearing edge is pulled to the center of the shell to seat perfectly into the head.
The namesake of Ludwig's legendary icon, Keystone Series drums feature the new low-contact Keystone lug and mounting bracket for a dramatic look and feel. Ludwig offers a choice of two new shell packs (22/16/12/10 and 24/18/16/13 and four Glass Glitter finishes (Psych Red Glass, Orange Glass, Deep Blue Glass, and Mint Oyster Glass.
“Ludwig drums have been the industry standard since 1909 and the tradition and quality continues on today better than ever with a sound that could only be Ludwig”, said Kevin Packard, Director of Marketing, Combo Percussion.
