Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (FMIC) announces that it will end its formal business relationship with renowned luthier, Robert Benedetto. While both parties have benefited from this relationship, they have mutually agreed that it is time to change strategic direction.
In 1999, FMIC and Benedetto entered into an agreement in which FMIC would manufacture, market and distribute high-end Benedetto branded guitars. As part of the agreement, Robert Benedetto worked directly with the Fender Custom Shop team of master guitar builders to produce guitars bearing the Benedetto brand name, which were then made available to FMIC dealers throughout the world.
Said Richard McDonald, Senior Vice President of Marketing for FMIC, “Our relationship with Bob and his wife, Cindy, has always been very amiable, and it will continue to be so.
