Roger Sadowsky, the New York City-based luthier whose hand-crafted instruments are played by leading artists around the world, is introducing the Metro Series: hand-crafted basses that defy today's traditional equation for performance-for-price.
Sadowsky, whose intstruments are played Marcus Miller, John Abercrombie, Jason Newsted, Pat Metheny, Walter Becker, Will Lee, Tom Hamilton and others, has carved a reputation for himself over several decades by creating lightweight, streamlined electric basses and guitars prized for their exceptional tone, playability and craftsmanship.
Incorporating the same designs, quality tone woods, hum-cancelling pickups, preamps, and bridges as the highly prized Sadowsky NYC instruments, the more affordable new Metro Series basses are crafted by the expert Sadowsky Tokyo staff under the leadership of Yoshi Kikuchi, Director and Senior Builder.
Metro Series basses come in two basic styles, Vintage and Modern. Configurations are Alder body and Rosewood fingerboard as well as Ash body and Maple fingerboard. All of these are available in four and five string versions. The Modern Series also offers 24-fret versions.
A select group of Sadowsky NYC dealers will carry Metro Series basses. The differences are Sadowsky NYC has graphite bars in the neck, Metro does not. Sadowsky NYC has chambered bodies for light weight, Metro does not. Sadowsky NYC has many options including figured woods, Metro does not.
