Marshall annouced the launch of its new Mode Four development at NAMM Winter Session 2003. The Mode Four series comprises of the new MF350 head (350w) and four speaker cabinets. The MF350 head is capable of accommodating todays popular dropped tuning styles, producing aggessive, bottom heavy, modern, high gain sounds. The Mode Four also delivers clean tones, along with the array of overdriven sounds that are synonymous with the Marshall name.
The MF350 Head features a "two amps in one" design, Amp 1 and Amp 2, both offer two foot switchable modes, giving a total of four options. Amp 1 is the "classic" and provides clean and crunch modes, amp 2 is the high gain modern amp with two overdrive modes. Both amps have independant valve preamp sections, and the MF350's proprietary power stage automatically reconfigures itself depending on which amp has been selected.
The Master Section is located directly in the middle of the amplifier to seperate Amp 1's and Amp 2`s controls, and includes master volume, resonance, tuner mute and solo control. The MF350 has a foot switchable Digital Reverb with independent controls for Amp 1 and Amp 2. In addition a heavy duty, six way LED footswitch is supplied and provides instant switching between the MF350's modes, plus Digital Reverb on/off and solo boost on/off.
The Mode Four family includes four specially designed 4 x 12" speaker cabinets (two angled two straight ), each of which measures over 3" taller than Marshalls traditional cabinets. The MF280A (angled) annd MF280B (straight) are designed to be used in a full stack configuration. The cabinets are loaded with four custom voiced, 16Ohm, 70w, 12" Celestion/Marshall vintage 30MF "speakers. TheMF400A and MF400B cabinets are designed for half stack configeration and come with four custom voiced 8 Ohm, 100w, 12"Celestion/Marshall speakers.
