At winter NAMM 2000 QSC launched the PowerLight 2 Series, the latest amplifier line exclusively designed for touring and live sound professionals. The line's four initial models -- the PL  218, PL 224, PL 230, PL 236 -- range in power from 900 watts to 1850 watts per channel (2  ohms) in a 21 lb., 2RU chassis.
The PowerLight 2 Series incorporates the PowerWave switching technology found in the original PowerLight Series. PowerWave boosts overall sonic quality and ensures efficient, cool-running performance under the most demanding loads. Built-in clip limiters and selectable low-frequency roll-off filters to boost system response and ensure low-end tightness are designed to meet the demands of touring. A standard Data Port allows users to interface with  QSControl, QSC's computer control system, or other audio network control devices. Other features include a custom security cover that conceals front, panel gain controls to prevent tampering and an optional air filter to prevent dust from entering the amp.
All models include a detachable "locking" IEC power cable and offer a variety of I/O options, Neutrik Speakon and binding post outputs and heavy-duty Canon XLR and 3-pin detachable Euro-style input connectors.
RMX-SeriesTwo additional versions of each PowerLight 2 model are now under development. The PowerLight 2 "A" and PowerLight 2 "D" versions will mirror the  power points and features found in the base models, but will offer on-board analog or digital signal processing capability, switchable gain sensitivities, and adjustable power limiters.
The initial PowerLight 2 models are expected to ship by this spring, with international shipment by May. The A and D versions are expected to be released by later this year.
The RMX Series also had its debut at Winter NAMM 200. The three-model line offers the popular power points of 830, 1400 and 2,400 watts (4 ohms bridged) in a low-profile, 2-RU chassis.
