Harman Pro Group promotes Michael MacDonald

Reaffirming its commitment to constantly enhance customer interaction with all nine of its brands, the Harman Pro Group announced the promotion of Michael MacDonald to the newly created position of Executive Vice President of Marketing & Sales. Based at the Group’s Northridge, California headquarters, MacDonald will continue to report directly to Blake Augsburger, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Harman Pro Group.
“The addition of sales oversight to Michael’s responsibilities is the next logical step forward in the evolution of the Group’s strategy to strengthen the average customer’s interaction with our brands,” Augsburger said today. “In the one year he has served as Executive Vice President of Marketing, Michael has demonstrated his ability to develop successful Group-wide marketing programs that are exceeding our customers’ demands for more integrated, multi-brand product solutions. In his new position, Michael will bring the same expertise and leadership to Group-level sales.”
Michael MacDonald rejoined the Harman Pro Group in January 2007 as Executive Vice President of Marketing, a then newly created position. From 2003 until 2007, he was founder and President of Pilot Business Strategies Inc., a consulting firm that served a number of professional audio, video and security companies.
MacDonald first became an integral part of the Harman team in 1996 when he joined JBL Professional as Vice President of Installed Sound. He spent six years there developing products and strategies to improve equipment that serves both the production and fixed installation sectors. He served the last four years as President of JBL Professional.
Michael MacDonald has been involved in professional audio for more than 25 years. Beginning in the 1970’s, he was active providing sound systems design and production services for touring, broadcast and installed applications. He crossed over to the supplier side of the industry joining Yamaha in 1986. MacDonald stayed at Yamaha for more than nine years, and for the last four years he served as Marketing Manager, developing and marketing a diverse range of professional audio products that included analog and digital consoles, signal processing gear and loudspeakers. MacDonald moved on to work in the post-production audio industry, joining TimeLine as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, focusing on digital audio workstations and synchronizers.
In accepting his new responsibilities, MacDonald noted that, “Harman’s global customer base of sound professionals is entitled to expect the best of both worlds: individual brand excellence coupled with integrated system solution expertise. The ability to deliver best of brand with best of system performance and reliability is what sets Harman Pro Group apart in the marketplace. In my new position, I will develop the sales and marketing programs that take this unique ability to new levels of effectiveness for our customers.”
